Quantities to price

  • Soil or compost: calculate only the layer actually being added.
  • Mulch: bed square feet × new depth in inches ÷ 324 for cubic yards.
  • Edging: measure the exposed perimeter rather than estimating from area.
Where the plan can change: A soil test may show that an amendment is unnecessary; avoid buying a preset mix before assessing existing soil.
